Blue-Haired Lady

November 7th, 2007 by Sara

Me rocking out with my blue hair.Blue hair on my head
Like a beacon of fun-ness.
Everyone smiles.

I thought having blue hair would get me the cold shoulder. I’d be that blue-haired punk that people were suspicious of and frowned disapprovingly at. But the opposite happened. Now, I walk around in a bubble of friendliness, showered with compliments about my hair and adoring questions from the masses. Okay, maybe not quite like that.

It has been a lot of fun though, moving through a different world. A parallel universe where I’m always noticed, smiled at, complimented. Who knew blue hair would turn Los Angeles into a warmer city.

LA’s such a big city that I think people don’t know how to break the ice. Your blue hair is fun, and definitely INTENDED to be noticed - so it’s safe to talk about, and a great way for someone to say “Hi” to you without feeling awkward about crossing the silent inertia of stranger-hood.
Oh, and on you, blue hair looks great!

It’s true. You make it look happy and fun. I had blue hair in college, and it definitely did not make me look more accessible.

Your monster jeans also get you lots of compliments. Rawr!
